The Scheldt is of great value to nature, the economy and society. In this package, you'll dive into the world of the Scheldt. You'll learn why this river is so important and how various interests come together within a single ecosystem.

What will you do?

You'll explore the ecological, economic and societal significance of the Eastern and Western Scheldt. Together with other students from the Netherlands, Belgium and France, you'll investigate the interests at play around themes such as water quality, nature, shipping and climate change. By taking part in activities such as the Oosterschelde Game or the Scheldt Youth Parliament, you'll practise weighing up considerations, collaborating and decision-making from the perspective of the Scheldt itself.

What will you learn?

You'll learn which values and interests are connected to the Scheldt and how to arrive at careful considerations within that complexity. You'll also gain greater insight into nature, policy and societal choices. In doing so, you'll learn to think as a guardian of an area and discover how, through involvement and knowledge, you can contribute to a healthy future for the Scheldt.

2.2 Complexity awareness and sense-making
The student recognises connections and patterns in an issue or situation and explains these in a simple manner, and works with complex or systematic conditions or relationships.

5.1 Courage
The student demonstrates, in a respectful manner, the values he/she stands for and the decisions associated with these, and, where necessary, acts decisively without infringing on the rights of others.

In the "Voice of the Schelde(s)" package, you learn about the many values connected to our Schelde(s) and become acquainted with its many stakeholders. By thinking from the perspective of the Schelde's interests, you learn how to make sound decisions within the complexity of interests surrounding the Schelde(s).
