Zeeland is best discovered together. In this programme, you will explore the province alongside Dutch and international students, getting to know one another by venturing out as a group. At its heart, the programme is about connection, perspective, and finding a place where you feel at home.

What will you be doing?

In mixed groups, you will take part in at least ten activities in which you explore Zeeland together. Think discovering local traditions, everyday life, and cultural differences. Dutch students share hidden gems and customs, whilst international students bring fresh perspectives that help everyone see Zeeland through new eyes. Along the way, you will have conversations, compare experiences, and get to know each other beyond the boundaries of your own course or background.

What will you learn?

You will learn to collaborate with students from different cultures in an open and respectful way. You will also broaden your perspective by discovering how others see Zeeland, its traditions, and daily life. In doing so, you will not only build intercultural understanding, but also friendships, a sense of belonging, and a greater feeling of being at home within HZ.

Structure of the activity "Meet Zeeland, meet each other"

Ragna Brouwers

Culture & heritage
Culture & heritage

3.1 Appreciation and connection
The student connects with others and/or their context in a respectful and appreciative manner.

4.1 Inclusive mindset and skills
The student embraces diversity and demonstrates this by communicating effectively and collaborating respectfully with people from different backgrounds and perspectives.

Through this activity, students grow by meeting each other, sharing experiences, and discovering Zeeland together. In these mixed-nationality groups, students learn to see the world through someone else's eyes. By hearing different viewpoints and comparing cultural perspectives, they develop strong perspective skills and become more open to insights they might not have considered before. At the same time, students strengthen an inclusive mindset by working closely with peers from a wide range of backgrounds. They learn how to communicate clearly across cultures, collaborate respectfully, and create a space where everyone feels welcome. Dutch students share local traditions and hidden gems, while international students bring fresh ideas that help the whole group experience Zeeland in a new way.
