Film can move you, challenge you, and make you think. In this programme, you will discover how films make social, political, and personal themes visible and spark meaningful conversations. You will learn to look beyond the story itself and explore what film reveals about the world around us.

What will you do?

You will watch international arthouse films with subtitles in Dutch or English. During the sessions, you will discuss scenes, themes, and characters with fellow students. You will explore which perspectives are represented in the films and how they influence your own thinking. Through discussion and reflection, you will connect what you see on screen to societal issues and personal experiences.

What will you learn?

You will learn to recognise and articulate different viewpoints based on concrete film scenes. In addition, you will develop your listening skills and learn how to engage respectfully in conversations about diverse interpretations. In doing so, you will strengthen your critical thinking skills, cultural awareness, and ability to connect film with both current and personal themes.
